James Williams and some of his relatives (nephew/uncle), a friend, and an unknown gentleman who chiefly sat outside holding up the wall performed some work at a Jackson, Mississippi property for me. They work in various areas of the within a 90-mile radius of Jackson, MS. These gentlemen are not licensed/bonded contractors, but skilled enough to be considered handymen. They did some drywall, wood work and flooring. They work very fast, but they take several shortcuts that leave much of the work appear unfinished or rushed. The flooring, however that his friend (Eduardo) installed was wood laminate and ceramic tile and looked beautiful. As pre mentioned, James and his help are not insured and often accidentally broke several tiles, so be prepared to purchase extra boxes of tile/laminate. They did some painting for another customer that I observed afterward. They painted quickly, but did not caulk/mud or sand and slathered paint on top of very obvious surface flaws and around holes that should have been filled in. They also sealed some electrical sockets and a light switch with paint. If you need work done very quickly, and don’t mind having it cleaned up/corrected later, this is a good team. If you need great looking flooring installed, this is a good team. Disclaimer: They are not the most reliable in terms of showing up during their scheduled time. James has an uncle named Ted Williams, who claims to be a licensed electrician. I’ll detail him in another post. On a five-point scale, I’d give James a 3. He may be reached at (601) 500-8595.
